Show THE FOUNDRY. As we have before had occasion to remark this is one of Logan's home institutions, in which our citizens should feel an interest and a pride. At a recent visit there we were informed of the present condition of the institution. the machine shop has been very much crowded during the last two months, and has had to run overtime. It has lately turned out six or seven hundred dollars worth of shafting, pulleys, &c., for the new U. O. saw mill in the mouth of Logan canyon, and a shingle mill was completed last week for Messrs. Bigelow & Co. of Oxford. The steps for the font in the Temple are completed and are a very creditable piece of work indeed. A new planer has lately been put in. It cost $1,200, and will plane pieces of iron 8 feet long, 2 feet wide and 2 feet thick. Sone for the foundation of a new warehouse for the accomodation [accommodation] of the wagon department is on the ground and the structure will be pushed to completion at once. The old office has been removed to make room for the new building. And thus our home institutions are growing. MINING IN THE PARADISE DISTRICT. Since the accident in the Boston mine not much has been done in any of the mines in the Paradise district. In Hyrum canyon east of Paradise mine is being developed which the owners have great confidence in. The assays become higher fast as the shaft goes down. The owners intend to push work on it all summer. |
