Show Sevier Division Dates Announced In a fast but one-sided pre-season game of basketball played at the High school auditorium last Saturday Satur-day evening, the junior team of the High school defeated the Mayfield Junior high to the tune of 44 to 11. Neither team showed the finish of mid-season playing, but the Gunnison Gunni-son quint showed superiority in passing, pass-ing, team work and locating the basket. The size of the ball proved bewildering to the Mayfield lads, but with more practice they are sure to ! develop class and should be able to put up a real fight with any junior team. Myrup, of Gunnison, was easily the star of the game, both in passing and points made. He garnered a total of 20 points for his team. Christensen Substitutes, Gunnison Hill, Olsen, Villard. A pre-season game that promises I to be of unusual interest is shced-uled shced-uled for next Tueday night at the Gunnison high gymnasium. A strong aggregation of basketballers from Grantsville, and who are touring Utah, Sanpete and Sevier counties, will stop over in Gunnison for a clash with the local team. The Tooele county boys are fast ones and have been stepping some, but backers of the local quintette are confiedent that the visitors will have to "dust" to be able to carry away any of the "bacon." The game Tuesday night will start at 7:30 and lovers of th sport will ! surely see an interesting combat. i |
