Show HII! MUSIC PLEASES CROWD Show at Gemmell Memorial Club Provei to be Best of the Season-Plenty Season-Plenty of Music and Comedy. The Clark Oldficld Company of entertainers en-tertainers held the boards at the Gem mell Memorial Club Friday evening of last week, and gave the members the best entertainment of the season. Hawiiari Music was the pcrdomin-' ating feature of the evening given by five clever musicians, who proved to be able to play most any instrument with ability. After the opening number by these clever artists, who were assisted by three women in song, the famous Hula Hula dance was given. Many pleasing selections by the orchestra followed, interspcrced with solo numbers, num-bers, which met with instant approval. The following number proved to be one of rare beauty, when Miss Fran-kie Fran-kie Drew gave "Visions D'Art," showing show-ing many famous paintings with the aid of beautiful picture slides. This act was the first of its kind to be shown here, and Miss Drew received much applause for her efforts. More Hawiian music followed and then a steel guitar solo was given. This member of the fair Hawaii gave several selections, both classical and popular, showing his versatility. A clever toe dance was the next number,1 which was followed by Mr.: Clark Oldficld and Miss Frankie Drew in a clever sketch, filled with high class humor, that brought forth many laughs, from the capacity crowd. A quartet next entertained with some lively songs and close harmony, and the crowd refused to allow them to leave the stage. Several selections were offered by J he orchestra, which was followed by the grand finale, thus ending by far the best entertainment of the season. Not a dull moment marred the show, and everyone went home well satisfied. The committee is to be congratulated upon its choice of entertainment en-tertainment for the members of the club. A monster show has been announced announc-ed for Friday, June 12. |
