Show THE MASTER'S MISSION, The End to a Series of Interesting Letters. Theosophy holds that beside the degrees of palpable matter and the "ether" of science there are still finer grades of matter. The spiritual spirit-ual principal in order to gain perfect experience under the scheme of Divine wisdom, associated as-sociated itself with matter. The remote progenitors of humanity were of tenuous, vapory bodies, these changed through myriads of years to others more dense, and finally to flesh and blood. The early emanations from the Divine were fresh and pure, and had no other conception of life and being than was obvious in fact. Development of carnal facultie?, together with increase of material interest and dulling of spiritual perception, brought about erils in morals und physics, as well as an outgrowth of imaginary doctrines. , But while the increasing descent j into matter carried with it moral , evil and intellectual error to a! large part of evolving humanity, ' there were always some superior souls who maintained both the early knowledge and purity, and enlarged that knowledge by persistent persis-tent study of theevolving universe. These select beings, "Masters" o; "Adepts" extended their acquaintance acquaint-ance with large spheres of Nature's forces that were rapidly closing to the dulled eyes of the massos. As actual knowledge shrank with their order, the danger dan-ger of abuse for selfish ends caused its participation by the unworthy to be prevented by secrecy, and so character came to be the indis-penaible indis-penaible passport to instruction. Ages of study by Masters, carried on aa th jse advancing to nearer union with the Divine gave place to successors, formed an enormous acquisition entitled "the secret doctrine," secret only because sensualized natures could not reach nor justly use it. Any worthy aspirant, fitting himself by spiritual exercise to approach it was welcomed and assisted, the renovation of humanity being its constant purpose. The schools of Masters never failed in the darkest ages, however localized its area. To the present day this order haB existed, always working for the good of humanity it sprang from, and given out truths when conditions con-ditions al lowed. Circumstances have made the present epoch suit- j able for such a dilfiision of truth, I and this is why Theosophical doctrine is permeating the nations. This doctrine is nothing else than the immortal truth which for a time has been obscured by intentions. inten-tions. It lies at the basis of all religions and has utilized the thought and mission of the seers, prophets and mystics of all ages. F. T. S. |
