Show N. S. NEILSON IS HONORED 1 AT PRICE ON HIS BIRTHDAY i The Price Sun of September 7th has the following to say about X. S. X' ilsun of this city, who has recently returned to Utah form Long Beach, California: Cali-fornia: X. S. Xeilson got back' to Price last Tuesday evening from Long Beach, California. Wednesday was his seventy-fifth seventy-fifth birthday. That evening he was invited to the home ot' Mr. and Mrs. Carl P. Mareuson on North Ninth street in this I city and presented with a di-lamond di-lamond stickpin and a suitcase on behalf of the officers of the Price Commercial and Savings jbank of which the recipient is the president. He also is at I the head of the Eastern Ptah i Elect ric; company. Directors of this concern gave him a gold chain and knife, engraved: "X. iS. Xeilson, Seventy-Five Years ja Builder. Eastern Utah Elec-jtric Elec-jtric Company." . Those pros tent were Mr. and Mrs. Xeil M. Madson, Mr. and Mrs. II. B. jGoetzman, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. "Anderson, J. II. Leautaud and Earl Hills. The guest of this gathering was born at Sonalslof, Sweden, on September 5, IMS, and after a common school education educa-tion engaged in farming. In April, iso'S, himself and a' sister, sis-ter, Hannah, emigrated to Utah and located at Moroni. Here he was a farm laborer. The next spring he went up 'to Promontory arid worked for the Union Pacific until the railroad rail-road was completed to Salt Lake City. Later he learned the baker's tenle. ' He then went to Cottonwood as a minor. Becoming "leaded" ho quit this and located at Levan, wdiere he with several companions compan-ions partially developed mining min-ing claims until starvation i drove them out. In 1 S 7 ( he be-' gan freighting from Sanpete to Fri-eo. His earning were invested in calves. This v. as the beginning begin-ning of his livestock interests. ; From then until now he has been a suece-.-fill I'lockniaster. At one time ho had fifty-thre" thousand head. He has se.-n them sell for ;:s low as a dollai a head for ewes, and as high as $2.50 His first merchandise investment invest-ment was :0 in the Moroni Co-op. Tho dividends were shoes and hickory shirts. IP1 soon learned what interest is terming it as "getting something some-thing for nothing. " From that day to this, by industry and frugality; he has been able to make manv investments sever al of which have helped Utah to grow and also to bring success suc-cess to himself. He became president of the Sanpete Co-Op in 1ST", which institution he still holds a substantial sub-stantial interest in. Ho organized or-ganized and became president of the Mt. Pleasant Commercial Commer-cial and Savings bank in 1S!)'2 the second financial institution institu-tion in Sanpete county. He is yet at its head. In VJ0 he organized or-ganized the Price Commercial and Savings and has also been at its head every sine,1. I October 3, ISS; he was mar-iried mar-iried to Bonta Xeilson. Three 'children have boon born to them. His wife and one daughter, Miss Beatrice, are at present at their beautiful home fat Long Beach one of the most attractive in that city. He spends his winters there jand the summers in Utah. His frii nds are legions because be-cause of his great sympathy, fairness and helpfulness. lie has been an empire builder. |
