Show Y M M I 1 A NORMAL perhaps a few words at this big time from the Y M M I 1 A normal class which is being held here would not be amiss amis this class which bus a course ot of five weeks has been organized for the special purpose of training young men in the mutual improvement work it is under the able supervision of dr M H hardy aud and it la Is doing a great work the present class commenced on monday november it numbers forty five stud and is composed mostly of young men who have been beau called to labor as missionaries this thia winter in the different stakes of zion in the interest of the Y M M 1 I A there are also a few young ladles ladies it will clo close its labors on wednesday december having been in session a little over five weeks the unanimous testimony of the class is that the time has passed too quickly and that the benefits received are invaluable the course taken is very thorough comprising all the subjects in the manual besides lectures and practical exercises on constitutional law and parliamentary usages by bishop booth and prof jas jam B keeler vocal music by prof oil giles and a course in psycho logy by the principal prof B duff cluff jr also lectures upon special subjects by geo H brimhall and dr M H hardy the M 1 I students have all the privileges of the academy the same as the regular students to the lectures on the book of mormon by geo reynolds Reynold sto to the gium and the Poly society once a week also to the sunday school normal class held every sunday for the purpose of instructing the young people as an teachers in the sunday school work in fact there is no limit to the opportunities to acquire knowledge whilst here the beautiful influence and order that are felt and manifested in this institution are beyond my pen to describe the the principal down are all very kind and solicitous for our welfare taking an especial interest in the M 1 I students As to brother hardy too much cannot be said he to is indefatigable in his labors in our behalf he Is doing a great work for the young men of Ie Isra raeland elaud be is truly W a father to those trusted to his care we will lover never forget the kind fatherly counsel and advice that we have received from him and we say may gou bless him in his bis labors the next claps will commence on january fth 1893 and it isa is a splendid opportunity for young men and one which they should embrace it will cost them nothing for tuition and good board can DC had cheaply the benefits derived will more than compensate for the time W MATTHEWS dec |
