Show FOREST INFORMATION I find an infection of bark beetles in both the yellow spruce and pine in this district. Five forest officers were recently detailed in some experimental ex-perimental control measures. Three sections of the forest area were inspected, in-spected, finding ninety three trees. These trees were felled and either burned sufficiently to kill the Larvae of the beetle or were barked to expose ex-pose them to the weather. Results of this experiment will be studied during dur-ing the coming season and found to be successful. It is believed that the government will appropriate sufficient suffici-ent funds to eradicate the beetle and the pestallon. It is believed that unless un-less early steps are taken our forests for-ests will be severely injured or will suffer an alarming loss. Forest Ranger, W. E. Tangren. |
