It has since been brought to the attention of the editor that Wanda Winter and Pauline Jensen also served. Weddings Travis Kay and Craig Schelling of Liberty had a baby boy on May 23. Buhrley- Eliason Heidi Maree Buhrley and Kyle Joseph Eliason were married May 28 in the Logan LDS Temple. Eagle Scouts Wanda Winter Wanda Winter of Huntsville joined the U.S. Naval Reserve (WAVES) about 1941 and served until about 1946. A wedding luncheon followed at the Maddox Lodge. A reception was held later that evening at the Weber State Alumni Center. The bride is the daughter of Ron and Karen Buhrley of North Ogden. Parents of the bridegroom are Drs. Glen and Claudia Eliason of Ogden. The bride is a graduate of Weber High School and LDS Seminary. She graduated in spring from Weber State University in elementary education, and from the Ogden LDS Institute. She is employed by Dr. Stephen Hadley. She plans to teach this fall. The bridegroom is a graduate of Ogden High School and LDS Seminary. He served in the Philippines Naga LDS Mission. He is finishing a chemistry degree at WSU and plans to attend medical school. He is employed by Fresenius Medical Care. The couple have made there home in Ogden after a honeymoon to Yellowstone National Park. Mr. & Mrs Darren Laub Brown-Laub Friends forever we’ll always be as we join together in harmony Dawn Brown, and Darren Anthony Laub, shall exchange vows on July 13, 2003 Dawn is a graduate of Bonneville High School. Darren is a graduate of Weber High School. Darren is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Obituaries Colton Hale McKay Chris J. Apostol Colton Hale McKay, 13, of Troop 30 of Huntsville has earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was recently honored in a Court of Honor at Camp Atoka. He is the son of Chad and Wendy Hale McKay. For his Eagle project, he put in the Competition Sand Volleyball pit in the Huntsville Park. Way to Go Colton! We love you! Apostol, 75, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Provo, Utah on April 7, 2003. He was born December 21, 1927, in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Christ K. and Luella Abplanalp Apostol. He married Marva Funk on March 16, 1950, in Logan, Utah. They recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Chris was a loyal companion and friend who always faced life’s opportunities with good humor and an abiding faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a good and patient teacher, a confidant and counselor to many. He was proud of his Greek ancestry and extremely proud to be an American. Chris graduated from Utah State Agriculture College in 1950 with a degree in physical education, history, and English. He was employed as a teacher and coach at Ogden High school from 1950 to 1958. In 1959, he accepted a football coaching position at BYU where he worked for 12 years. His time at BYU was distinguished by his recruitment of Polynesian football players. He spent 25 years as owner and developer of Patio Springs Country Club (Wolf Creek) in Eden, Utah. For the past 14 years, he has worked with his sons at Euclid Timber Frames in Charleston, Utah, where he was affectionately known as “Grandpa” by his co-workers. He was a meticulous craftsman, and derived great satisfaction from working with his hands. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions throughout his life, including several years as a worker in the Provo Temple. At the time of his death, he was serving as a counselor in the BYU 38th Ward Bishopric, a calling that he truly loved. Survivors include his wife, Marva; children Kristine (Dave) Cunningham, St. George, Utah; Konn Rauschenbach, New Mexico; Kip (Sandy) Apostol, Lindon, Utah; Kurt Apostol, Alpine, Utah; Kami (Tim) Sullivan, Washington; brother, George (Jeniel) Apostol, Midvale, Utah; as well as 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye Posselli. Funeral services were held April 12, 2003 at the Edgemont Stake Center in Provo, Utah. Wanda Winter Pauline Jensen Pauline Jensen of Huntsville joined the U.S. Naval Reserve (WAVES) April 6, 1944 at Ogden, Utah, and served until April 17, 1947 when she was discharged at San Diego, California. She attained the rank of Yeoman 1st Class V-10, and was awarded the American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Medal. She marched in the VE Day Parade in San Francisco, California. Pauline first served at the U.S. Naval Training Center (Women’s Reserve) Bronx, New York; next, in the 11th Naval District in San Diego, California; then at the U.S. Naval Training and Distribution Center, Camp Elliot at San Diego; and finally, at the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego.
