Show Hew officers in Hi Creek; all-sfers lose New officers for the Mill Creek WBBA league were elected elec-ted at a recent meeting with Jerry Smith named as president, presi-dent, Gordon Nielson and Russell Rus-sell Martain, vice-presidents, and Mrs. Elmer J. Smith, secretary sec-retary and treasurer. Retiring officers were Mor-rell Mor-rell Dean and Bill Duncan, co-presidents; co-presidents; JetTy Smith, vice-president, vice-president, and Mrs. Smith, sec-treas. sec-treas. Mill Creek officials extend thanks to all who helped in the WBBA tournament last week in which Brigham City won the right to enter the Little World Series in Idaho this week. The Springville team, Sage Creek all-stars won the first game of the tournament in a shut-out, 9-0 over Grantsville behind the outstanding pitching of Roger Rife, who also got a no hitter. Joe Smith came up with a home run to aid the cause. Springville scored three in the first inning, 1 in the third, three in the fourth two in the fifth to win. In the final contest between Brigham City, the game was a close, hard fought contest all the way and an extra inning had to be played before the winner was decided 3-2. Joe Smith pitched 6 innings and John North the final inning. Brigham City scored two home runs in the contest. |
