Show Coolers are potential death traps Camping coolers may become death boxes for playing children chil-dren according to a Fish and Game spokesman who reminds parents of the potential danger in the air-tight containers. Death from suffocation in picnic coolers takes several young lives each year. Cause of the accidents is often adults who leave the coolers open, unlocked, un-locked, or accessible to youngsters young-sters at play. Safety minded parents keep lids of coolers locked or otherwise other-wise securely fastened shut. Storing them in a locked room gives added protection. The danger in abandoned refrigerators re-frigerators is well known, but few people suspect that children chil-dren will also crawl into a small cooler or freezer. These: are also tightly insulated and the air supply in a small cooler cool-er is quickly exhausted. |
