Show Christmas activities Saturday, November 29, Santa will be In town aa the community kicks off the Christmas season with eevoral activities. Mr. and Mrs. Santa will arrive ... at Roosevelt on the dty fire truck j and be taken to the First Security Rank where they will greet .the local youngsters and give them sacks of peanuts and candy. The Roosevelt Service League and Roosevelt Chamber of Com merce have sacked about 1200 of these for distribution that day by the holly old elf and his wife. ' After, this the children are invited to attend a special matinee movie at the Roosevelt Theatres while Santa and Mrs. Claus visit the Rest Home and " A , ; . : , , HoepitaL At ' 5:30 ; ' at the First Security Coiner (Lagoon and Main) then will be a brief, ceremony as the Christmas lights an turned on all along main street and on the community Christmas tree. The tree is donated by Garth Sorenson and was planted in 1963 by Sharon and Add Cummings. . The Sorenson's donated the twin to this tree about 15 yean ago from the other side of their yard, but this (me has 15 mon yean growth. It was taken down by Moon Lake Electric crew and transported and put up through the Rooeevelt American Legion Foot and Keith Goodapeed. It will be decorated this wed by area elementary school students. To add to the holiday spirit, Christmas music will be broadcast via outside speakers downtown by Sathen, Bruce Anderson TV and the Rooeevelt Chamber. Special promotions will also be underway this weekend. At 1 p.m. the annual Turkey drawing win take place at the Doves parking lot. At 4 p.m. the Retail Merchants will hold their drawing at JDJs Gifts and Toys store. Both of these will take place on Saturday. Also going on in the coming weds wfil be residential lighting ami business decoration contests. , Businesses and residents are asked to decorate their homes and businesses for judging between December 15 and December 19. The Holly Fair is still set for December 5 and 6 in the Academy Man, downtown Roo-- sevelt It wfil begin at noon on Friday, December 5 and run until 9 p.m. with entertainment and booths as in years past Saturday the Holly Fair wfil begin at 10 . a.m. and go until 5 p.m. The turkey drawings and retail merchants drawings wfil be held the next several weekends, an at the same time as they am hdd this weekend but in different locations, so watch the newspaper for details and pictures of the winners each week. And the Operation Santa program is also stQl going on.
