UINTAH BASIN STANDARD, November 26. 1906 Church News Community Presbyterian Church The worship service at the Community Presbyterian Church in Myton was held on Sunday, November 23, under the direction of our pastor, the Reverend Mr. Glenn W. Thomson. Christy King was at the piano. Because this was the last Sunday after Pentecost, the service focused on Christ as King. The Gospel Lesson was from the king of the Mke 23:35-1Jews is crucified. The Old Testament lesson was from II Samuel 15:1-Dayid is crowned king at Hebron at the age of 30. The Epistle Lesson was from : We belong to Colossians the kingdom of Christ, who, as the image of God, is in all things. ' The children's sermon was "The Surprise King. ' Pastor Glenn and the children discussed, the various aspects we attribute to a king and they are basically the same ones that Christ was expected to have, but did notr-- a crown,' an army, power. The sermon was The King of Your life." We find it fairly easy to acknowledge Christ as our savior, but have difficulty allowing him to be King in our lives. He is there for us at all times: we have only to call upon him. Todays Minute for Mission dealth with the church in Hawaii Pastor Glenn called upon Jamie Lucero and his cousin Eli to take up the collection, which was followed by the Prayer of Dedication. . 3: 5: 1:11-20- pre-emine- nt Prayers of the people were said in Thanksgiving for the safe trip Glenn and Jovita had last Sunday and for the improvement in J ustinia's health-s- o glad to have her with us today with her sunny smile and warm hugs. Prayers were said for Bud Cooper and his upcoming surgery: he will enter the hospital December 10 to prepare for his hip surgery cm the 15. Word was received of the November 19 death of Carl H. Davis of St George, and prayers wrote said for his wife Lee and other family members. We also remembered the family of Leon Prichard. Ann's friends mother is from a stroke. Cal and recovering ' Virginia's nephew will have brain December l, the oilfield workers who were burned recently are still in need of prayer. Prayers were also said for all those in need of comfort, reassurance, healing of any kind, and for peace in the world as we take part in the ritual of Thanksgiving for all of Gods blessings. Remember that the Ladies' Aide quilters are busy at the church each Tuesday and welcome your nimble fingers. Members of the Session will meet at the parsonage on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. The program for the coming year will be addressed. Advent services will be held following the worship services this season. There will first be a simple fellowship meal, then an advent activity. Do plan to St. Helen Catholic Church The Mass schedule for St. Helen is Saturday at 5 p.m., Sunday at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. in Tabiona, Mass is celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The Holy Spirit Mission in Duchesne will celebrate Mass on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is before the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Helen. Please come early so Mass will start on time. A special program dealing with marriage is planned for Monday through Wednesday, December at St. Helens. The program, to be conducted by Chuck and LuKreutler of the Diocesan Family Life Bureau, has been developed for those who desire more meaning in the marriage relationship: a deeper union with God: . more peace and contentment in daily life. Faith Lutheran Church Faith Lutheran Church will hold its regular worship service at 9 a.m. this Sunday, November 30. Guests and friends are always warmly welcome. Following the worship service there will be Sunday School for children and fellowship for adults. These begin at about 10 a.m. The Sunday School plans to start practice for the Christmas program and encourages all children to be ' ROCKS NEWS there. A Thanksgiving Day service at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Vernal will begin at 10 a.m.' Thursday morning. All are welcome to come. Advent services begin Wednesday evening, December 3 at 7 p.m. All are cordially invited to attend as we prepare for the coming of Christ. Following the Advent service we will have our monthly voters meeting. Next Sunday, December 7, will be potluck Sunday. Please remember Sunday School begins at 1 p.m., worship service follows at 2 p.m., and a delicious potluck will be served at 3 p.m. After dinner plans include our annual Christmas decorating and tree trimming activities. Betty King is the new Primary President, and she has chosen Betty Cloward as her 1st Counselor, and Terri Robb as her 2nd Counselor. a Minnie Robb has just returned from a trip into Arizona. She accompanied her daughter, Ida Ercanbrack, with her two boys, 6 months and 4 Virginia Ferguson Dixie Hardman accompanied Don and Ednal Simmons to Salt Lake last Wednesday. Don was admitted to the Veterans hospital for a hernia operation, to be performed on the following day, while Ednal and Dixie returned home that same day. On Friday, Ednal drove back to Salt Lake, to pick up Don after his operation, and bring him home. Considering the feet that this is Dops third operation within a few months, he is feeling quite - good, i(and improving daily. a Muril Moosman accompanied her daughter and her husband, Barbara and Charles Bolton, and their daughter, Lena Elder,, to Provo last Saturday. Raymond and Lena Elder are moving to Provo, and the Boltons are helping them move. While in Provo, Muril, the Boltons and the Elders went through the Temple. Muril says they got to Provo in time to join the traffic for the traffic waa bum--. Joining' them to go through the Temple were her nephew and wife, Gay lor and Gyle Winward. The Cooks drove on to California, where they spent four days visiting relatives, and transacting business. They spent two days in Springe-ville- . Arizona, with Minnie's father, Mike Thurio, 90, and her son, Mikey Ralston and his wife and two children. Returning home, they stayed overnight again at Dove Creek. Minnie was "glad to get home. a We have a celebrity in our midst. Nelda Cook has been elected President-eleof the Elder Lloyd and Sister Moma Grant have been called to serve a mission in the Ohio Columbus Mission, beginn-ing December 10. A testimonial will be held November 30 in the Duchesne Third Ward Chapel at 1 0:30 a.m. ct the Searchettes, Search : and Rescue Auxiliary, and takes ' office in January. She is excited about her position, and the new duties she will be assuming. e Roger Roberson flew to San Francisco last week, then drove from there to Escalon, California, where he visited with his brother, Charles, for one day. From there, ' he flew to Spokane, Washington, for a two-da- y visit with his oldest son, Roger Lee, Jr. He returned home after this trip, to resume his duties in Duchesne. NEWS ' past six weeks. Anna W. Murray spent the - 1 her daughters. Dr. and Mrs. John W. Tucker in Beverly Shores, Indiana. While there she attended the wedding of her granddaughter, Travis Tucker. The young couple, Mr. and, Mrs. Steve Gunnell, will make their home in Fort Collins, Colorado. ; Anna Murray home after spending sometime with them. Many of the Myton Senior Citizens enjoyed the Ceramics show at the Center Tuesday. While there they enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner. Four of the Myton low income housing units are about ready for the occupants to move in. ' special blessing goes to Megan Pays and her family.
