Show Voters to Choose State Education Board Member Iron County Voters who go to the polls at the general election on Tuesday, November, will receive re-ceive a non-partison ballot as well as the general election ballot, bal-lot, on which they will mark their choice of a representative from this district to the State Board of Education. Voters in a number of other counties will also be voting on the education board election, since the successful success-ful candidate will represent five counties, and representatives In two other districts are to be elected elec-ted this year. This Is a new procedure in tlie ixtnn of members of the Board of Education, , adopted by the last state legislature. In the past members of the board have been elected by the members of the local boards of education In the various districts. Now they are to be elected by general, but non-partisan ballot. Iron County Is included in District Dis-trict No. 5, which also includes Washington, Beaver, Millard and Juab counties. One representative representa-tive to the state board from this district will be elected In November Nov-ember for a four-year term. 18 Years in Office W. O. Bentley of St. George, has represented the District for the past eighteen years, but is not seeking re election to the of- j fice. Nominations for the position were made at a special meeting held in Cedar City last spring, with three men placed in nomination nom-ination for the position. The nominees include Morgan Rollo, Cedar City, publisher of the Iron County Record; Roy Gibson. Ne- phl, publisher of the Juab County Coun-ty News, and W. C. Coles, Delta businessman and president of the Millard County Board of Education. Ed-ucation. The election of the State School Board representative is not to be confused with a local school board election to name a representative to the Iron County Board of Education from District No. 4, which includes the Southwest South-west portion of Cedar City, or voting districts No. 5, 6, 7 and 8. Three nominations have been named for this position, including includ-ing Incumbent Elloyd Marchant, I!. M. Endsley and Vlrge Smith. This election is also on a nonpartisan non-partisan ballot so voters in the four Csis? City districts lifted will receive a regular ballot and two non-partisan ballots. |
