Show Holladay Lions Club (t .r'SEf President J. ARCHIE ALDOUS ! Mt" "TO lst Vice Pres W- K" HAMMOND V'l VIdr 2nd Vice PreS EARL BELNAP tft$$ 3rd Vicc Pres DON ARCHER SZmr Secretary HAROLD BENNION ; Treasurer CARL LARSEN Chairman f'lub Publicity Committee BY MEL WRIGHT I The followng material is reprinted re-printed from Lions Internation-monthly Internation-monthly letter for June, 1946: "As the new officers and directors direc-tors assume the control of the destinies of their clubs, they naturally look to the future with enthusaism. That is as it should I be. Still here's a thought-' to re- member: The future is always unseen. We can see the past and the present, but ' Lbngfellow warns us: 'Trust no future, howe'er pleasant! pleas-ant! Act-act in the living preesent, 1 Let the dead past bury its dead. Hear within, and God o'erhead!' "A year ago at this time, the 1945-46 officers and directors of the various clubs also faced the future, which at that time looked look-ed just as uncertain and unpre- dicable as the future does to-i to-i day. But by acting always with-j with-j in the living present, these offi-I offi-I cers and directors during their j j term of office, now ending, have J established a record of accomplishment accom-plishment that has never been attained by any similar organization. organ-ization. They have strengthened i their clubs by enlarging their financial reserves, and by steadily stead-ily expanding the work, prestige and influence of Lionism. Their I activities have never been sur-' sur-' passed either in numbers or im- portance. They have been im-, im-, bued with the missionary's spirit spir-it of extension. During the past year an all-time high record for the number of new clubs formed within the association has been I set, this number being approxi-I approxi-I mately 700. Meanwhile, the association's asso-ciation's not membership, gain has been inpproximately 65,000, "The officers and directors also have been remarkably successful suc-cessful in building, within their clubs and throughout the asso-caton, asso-caton, an enthusasm for I.ionis-tic I.ionis-tic ideals and purposes, that will project its warm power far into the future an enthusiasm that will be absorbed by those who follow for years to come, that will pervade the club and carry it forward as time goes on. "So when the curtain rises for the new officers and directors, direc-tors, we will find them treading the solid ground prepared by ther predecessors. We will find, them, with their feet firmly I planted on the past, looking cour-! ageously into the future but always al-ways acing in the present. They are prepared to face the issuee of each new day, to meet each new problem as it arises, to act as each new occasion requires. We will, in short, find them constantly con-stantly abreast of the tmes. always al-ways alert to opportunities to serve. They will remember that only by acting in the present can the future be "assured." j We only have two members I birthdays listed for the month of July and we take this oppor- j tunity to wish each a very happy hap-py one and hope that they have many more. They are Rex Dennis, Den-nis, July 3rd and Geo. Marchan ! July 17th. j The Lady Lions organization j is coming along in fine shape and the first meetng will be called call-ed in the very near future. The ladies will be contacted in the next few days advising them of where and when this meeting will be held. At this meeting a complete outline of objects and proposed constitution will be discussed. j At the first regular board meeting held Tuesday at the home of our new president, j Arch Aldous, three important j projects were outlined for the ! coming year. The first two were 1 regarding attendance and membership. mem-bership. The new attendance chairman, Roy Hobbs, has some 1 definite plans regarding 100 per cent attendance and how to j maintain same. The member-I member-I ship and attendance committee com-mittee will work on a program to reactivate members that have been rather lax and to keep active those who have been in there pitching since they joined join-ed the club. The other project was turned ,wer to a special cmomittee of thiree memlKrsj, Earl VBelriap, I George Crowther and Mel Wright to study, investigate, and report I back to the next dinner meeting meet-ing for the entire club to consider. con-sider. The board decided that information regarding this project proj-ect be held up until this report is given so that we will have a complete picture regarding . all the angles involved. Arrangements have been made between the Bulletin and the clubs so that when you receive re-ceive your bill for the paper you can make payment to Secretary ! Harold Bcnnion. A number of the members are a little behind at present, so. when you are presented with a bill in the next few days drop the Bulletin , or Harold a check. |
