It is a solid steel h device, having a diameter. When it gels below the bottom of the easing hanging in the spider at nineteen hundred and seventy-si- x feet, lugs on the bottom of the tool will expand, giving it a diameter of twelve and a half inches. By rotating and lowering this cutter in the same manner as a drill the hole will be hewn to the desired size, the easing lowered and the bore eemented. Agitation of the mud with the underreamer may result in the well going on the rampage again or underreaming may be successful and cementing difficult. Attempts to cement off the water near nine hundred and fifty feet failed because of the salt content How-ve- r, if all goes well, underreaming and cementing should not take more than ten days or two weeks, allowing six for the setting of the cement. Reports from other oil camps are scant The Marland at Green River is reported to be drilling at seventeen hundred feet in the La Plata of the Jurassic with about twenty-fiv-group e hundred feet to go to reach the eand productive in the Pennsylvanian in ten-inc- During the last week there has been a dearth of news from the Utah oil camps, says Salt Lakes Tribune of the 24th, which has a correspondent on the ground. Developments have been of a routine order and will be so, barring unforeseen contingencies, unSouthtil a test of the Midwest-Uta- h ern gusher nine miles southwest of Moab has been completed. However, there is no lack of evidence that big companies will start drilling immediately it is proved that the Midwest-Uta- h Southern well on the Big Six or Cane Creek dome has the potentiality that conditions indicate it has. Irrespective of what is proved at their well, two more are to be put down by the Midwest Exploration company, one on the Shafer dome by river nine miles below the Midwest-Uta- h Southerns gusher and the other a mile above. Announcement is made that the Elk Bidge structure west of Blanding will be drilled in the next few months by the Midwest Explora- by the Texas Production company to drill wells in the Colorado river bed on the M. P. Smith and H. L. Rath permits on the Big Six and the Shafer domes. Engineers and geologists, it is stated, will arrive in Moab during this week to select sites. This activity should have unusual interest in that drilling will have to be done in the river beds. Probably coffer dams will have to be constructed to give sufficient room for the derricks, the camps and machinery. Excellent progress has been made in erecting the Midwest camp on the Shafer dome. This well, it is believed, can be spudded in within the next month. Clover A. Smith, superintendent of the Midwest Exploration, announces that underreaming of the Moab gusher will be undertaken on Monday. What will be had is a matter of speculation. The test of the Maude Ellen company on the Neal dome, six miles northwest from Vernal, has not been yet spudded in. The Crescent Eagle is engaged in cleaning out its hole. When swabbed the potash salts rose to thirty-on- e hundred feet. The well, now cleaned to thirty-fiv- e hundred feet, is standing up nicely. There has been no sloughing or caving, so that the company believes it will be but a short time before the bottom of the hole at fonr thousand feet is reached. Oil and gas shownigs, it is said, are as strong as ever. The officials of the Crescent-Eagl- e have signed up a lease which provides that California capital shall start drilling within forty days to test the potash possibilities of its properties. The lease has been forwarded to receive the signatures. Halls Catarrh has been 99n8Injnn ful in tha Catarrh for over success-Itivlllw&I- lU ment of Abo as a Blood treat- forty years.
