Show Universal Kicrofilraing Corp, ex 2608 D S-- Rolf Kraft of the Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge was in town a few days ago and called at the TN office. For several years past weve been intending to take a day and go see what the Fish Springs Nielsen has done an outstanding job again this year in decorating her home and has used lighted trees to add to the effect. Rex McPherson has decorated the south side of his north-facinhome, something different, but the view from main street as one heads north, and from fourth north street is very beautiful. And take a few minutes more to drive out Mona way as has been the case for many years past, the home of Evan and Reva Bryan is again most beautiful and many others are also decorated. In Levan, several homes are decorated, and one in particular on Long Branch was very attrractively done. As we mentioned above, there are numerous homes where lighting has been used to outline porches, rooflines, windows, etc., and were sure that you will notice them and appreciate the work which has been put forth by the owners in furthering the spirit of Christmas. Our congratulations to each mentioned, and to each person who has helped us to enjoy the Yuletide more with artfully decorated homes and surroundings. ... Its Christmas time! Almost over is the hustle and bustle that has taken folks from store to store looking for this or that. Almost over is the Merry Christmas mail which, although not as much as many years past, has given the postmen heavier loads to handle. Now, we can settle down to the basic reasoning as to why all this business of Christmas, anyway. As every Christian knows, the day is universally celebrated as the birthday anniversary of Jesus Christ, Saviour of Mankind! But why gifts? Some time after the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, wise men from the East came bearing gifts for the Child. They had recognized the blessed event and had been guided to Him. And from this has come the custom of giving gifts to those near and dear to us on this Holy day. Perhaps the greatest gift we can extend to those around us would be to give the gift of love and appreciation, not only on this Christmas day, but throughout the year, not particularly by material actions and things, but by our by the way we live our lives. It has often been said, that the great gift God gave to us was life itself, and our gift to God is what we do with that life! reg Stake groups plan varied holiday fare day-by-da- y North, south, east and west . . . yes, in all of our community are delightfully decorated homes. There are many homes which have lights in the windows, porches, and rooflines outlined with lights, each of which adds to the feeling of the holiday season. It would be nice for you to warm up the family flivver one of these first evenings to enjoy the handiwork of many residents. Take a few minutes to pause and admire the scenes at the home of Pat and Steve Greenwood, across from the City Park, and while youre on the same street, drive on out to about eighth north to see the beautiful job done by Susan and Bob Garrett. Circle up onto fourth east and view again the Christmas scene at the home of VaLoy and Ralph Menlove, and then on over to second north and third east to take a look at Zoma and Jim Painters home, with their lighted trees, etc. And while youre on third east, drive on along to the home of Gayle and Wesley Lynn, for another outstanding job of decorating. North on main street we find Bill and Desma Stowell have decorated one of the pines in front of their home, and across the street, Ray and Norma Pay have made the shrubbery blossom with artful lighting. Further north, Loren and Donna Callaway have gone all out with decorations to beautify their home and premises. And as usual. Miles and Maxine Anderson have made their home an outstandingly decorated place this Christmas season. Up in the southeast corner of town, Ora areas L'k- - City, lltih 3U10 Nephi, Juab County, Utah 84648, Thursday, December 26, 1974 Volume 65, Number 52 g refuge was all about, and then another year rolls around and we havent done it. Maybe next spring, summer, or fall. Mr. Kraft says September is about the best time to visit the area, and then pointed out why: the mosquito breeding areas are pretty well dried up by then and the mosquito population is down somewhat. He further tells us that the Dugway Proving Grounds testing boys have classified 18 varieties of mosquitos in the area. And did you know, that like lightning, the mosquito never hits twice in the same place or in other words, when your expos ed skin gets all covered with miniature bumps from the mosquito bites, youre not on the same going to be bitten again bumps. reg The Times-New- s Mystery Personality Contest is getting varied reactions. One lady, after asking for and getting an explanation of the clues concerning Fred J. Chapman, remarked That contest makes me question my own intelligence. The contest wasnt designed to go that far! But it is intended to create a lot of fun for our readers, as well as to make individuals think. Long ago, a man said Id rather make men think than rule a nation . . . or words to that effect. We hope youre thinking . . . and studying . . . and having fun doing it. reg lt Several groups in the Nephi Utah Stake are planning holiday activities, according to an announcement made this week by Floyd Carter, stake public relations director. Dr. and Mrs. Steele were in the living room of their home near Santaquin Hill, when Mrs. Steele spotted the deer between the home and the freeway. About then he said, a dog jumped the animal and it All headed straight for our window. efforts to frighten off the animal were in vain, as it plunged through the huge picture window on the east side of the room. After a trip over furniture and a fall or two, the deer decided it was time to leave, and it crashed through another huge window on the south side of the room on its way out. After escaping, the deer had quite a time on the ice on the pool near the home, and after regaining its footing, headed off toward the west hills, Dr. Steele reported. The jackpot now climbs to this weeks $7.50 basic MP prize, plus three week's bonus prizes of $18.50. $63.00 A quick check showed that several others had listed the word dependable as a clue. We acknowledge that Mystery Personality Ned Johnson is wholly dependable, but it does not pertain to him specifically and in the advertisement, it refers to the boatmotors which Garrett Honda Sales is selling. Entries last week were deposited with Garrett Honda Sales, Nephi Pack, Winter Lumber Co., Hanson Auto Parts, Nephi Lumber Co., and Cowans Cafe. This weeks sponsors for entries are marked with a star.
