Show Plan Is Announced By FERA Cmmittee Meeting with state FERA officials at Moroni Tuesday, the Sanpete county coun-ty committee appointed to carry out the work here was given some firsthand first-hand advice as to just how the work is to be operated. J. M. Knighton, who has charge of the local district under the FERA, attended the session. Mr. Knighton stated Wednesday that an entirely new set-up had been worked out and would at once be set in action. There is to be no money distributed for any work that might be done. On the other hand help will be afforded only those who are in dire need, in so far as food and clothing cloth-ing are concerned. The plan worked out is to the effect that an official will make a close survey of those making application for help under the FERA plan. If it is found he has cows, chickens, or anything that would provide a living, the rating would not qualify this particular individual in-dividual to participate in the work, as would the man or woman who are absolutely destitute. L. J. Kidman has been named as what is termed a "case worker," and it will be his duty to determine exactly as to what an applicant ap-plicant seeking aid is entitled to. Under previous relief plans set forth by the government, it was found that many abused and took undue advantage ad-vantage of the offerings. Under the new set-up, an applicant will be forced forc-ed to almost take a pauper's oath to get relief. Mr. Knighton, who attended a conference con-ference with the state FERA officials last week-end, stated that some minor (Continued on last page) FERA Committee Announces Plan (Continued from page 1) projects had been submitted. A concrete con-crete set-up, which would come under the $000,000 drouth control appropriation approp-riation by the government, was submitted. sub-mitted. The plans, with others from the state, were sent to Washington Tuesday. According to advices, it is expected that immediate action will be taken by the government, and before be-fore the crops are totally destroyed. |
