July 27, 2001 The Summit County JlCtss Summit Gounta There are i mi let on the facet of several young women across Summit County, as they begin their quest for the title of 2002 Miss Summit County. The pageant will be held Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. in the North Summit high School auditorium, with the theme The Chance of a Lifetime. The new Miss Summit County will represent Summit1 County as an ambassador, particuthe upcoming larly during Olympics, as we host the world in February 2002. The pageant promises to be one of the most entertaining shows ever produced by director, Billie Sue McNeil. With the excitement of the Olympics coming to Park City, the beautifully talented young ladies from our communities and the charisma of the people themselves this whole County is a buzz! This is just the beginning. Choreographer Billie Jo Butikofer will put it all together on stage for a show that will entertain, delight and showcase the eight women vying for the title of Miss Summit County. Amanda Burns, a tiny bundle of beauty form Henefer, graduated from North Summit High School. She has a flair for writing, loves to read, and has a passion for music. She feels that, It is a great opportunity to meet new people and see other cultures that will surround us, as she looks forward to the Olympics. Regina LaGuardia, from Park City, graduated from Utah State University in Marketing and is currently employed by Wasatch County Olympic Coordinator's office. She is the author of the Spirit Leader Program, which is being used throughout the County inspire and help citizens prepare to be involved in the Olympics. Jennifer Lou' Goodwin, from Kamas, is hopeful that the people form Summit County will plan ahead, organize, and work together to keep our County the beautifully serene country side that is carpooling and volunteering. Jenny plays the guitar and composes her own music. Amber Rydalch, from Oakley, sings, loves sports, is a photographBest er, and was voted the Attorney on south Summit's Mock Trials Team. Amber states, The Olympics' are a once in a lifetime opportunity to get involved and I'm not going to waste it! I hope someday to have the chance to tell my grandchildren the story of when the Olympics came to Utah and I volunteered! Hillary Smoot, from Woodland, attends Brigham Young University where she is a member of the Ballroom Dance Team. She recently returned from traveling abroad and commented, My experience was just a sampling of what we will feel as we host the world. We need to put our best foot forward as we meet people from so many different cultures and countries and shoe them what Summit County is all about.1 BreeAnn Vernon, from Coalville, graduated from North Summit and will attend Utah Slate University in the fall. BreeAnn is a certified lifeguard and water safety instructor, and was named to the prestigious Dance and Drill Team, and was valedictorian at North Summit. She states, The Olympics are 'the one time that all nations unite and come together. She loves to dance and play the piano. JenaLyn emphatically stated, I am outgoing and enthusiastic. I have lived here all my life and I enjoy representing something that I am proud of Summit Pre-Me- d. County! The pageant will entertain from the moment the curtain rises and these eight lovely ladies are introduced. They will each have to think and act quickly, using their intelligence and composure as a pane of interviewers shoot questions at them. Their fitness will be put to the test in the swimsuit category.
