Show Final fair winners from Davis County announced By TOM HARALDSEN Editor The final batch of winners has been released by organizers of this year's Utah State Fair, with a number of the ribbon-getters ribbon-getters from Davis County. In the fourth floriculture show, Margie S. Burningham of Bountiful captured the award for Best Single, a Rose-Pristine. Edward F. Ritter of Kaysville captured yet another award for Dahlias, Black Diamond. Harmonious winners in another category. Barbershop Quartet, Quar-tet, were Heart Felt Harmony of Bountiful, first place in a Women's Division. In fiddler competition, Jean Brighton of Layton took second in the general division; and Robert Ricks of Clinton was third in the junior-junior division. The chili cookoff was again a gas, with Clearfield's Charlie Siegel taking home third place, showmanship and people's choice awards. And in the now-you-see-him, now-there's-two-of-them category categ-ory of rabbits, Tom Lewis of Kaysville took both best of breed and best of breed opposite sex for New Zealand varieties. David Heaps of Kaysville took the same awards for his Flemish Giant varieties. Organizers were well pleased with this year's fair, which was blessed with good weather throughout. |
