Show Adventurer Hemenway. An adventurer by the name of Charles W. Hemenway, formerly connected with the Salem Talk, got himself into trouble in Ogden, Utah, by some of his lying statements regarding Chief Justice Zane. Hemenway, after leaving Oregon, drifted East, finally locating at Ogden, where ho took editorial management of the Ogden Herald, a Mormon sheet, and joined the Mormon church. Being a new convert, he was more zealous than wise, and denounced de-nounced in the vilest manner the Federal officials who were carrying out the instructions in-structions of the Government. On Saturday Sat-urday he was convicted of libel, and will undoubtedly receive his just reward when sentence is pronounced. Portland (Or.) News. . |
