Show Disgusted at Angel and Sears. This individual (T. O. Angel, jr.) lacked the "courage of a lion ;" indeed he appeared ap-peared to be lacking the courage of a mouse, as he stepped up. After a good deal of "back-talk," evidently intended for effect, he finally submitted, promised to "obey the law as interpreted by the court," and to advise others to do likewise, like-wise, for which abject and pusilanimous surrendering he was gently let down with a trifling fine $150. He went home to relate the occurrences of the day to a humilitated and disgusted family. This individual has, at each conference of the church for several years past, been sustained by the votes of thousands of Latter-day Saints as assistant Church architect, and during those years has been supported by that same community he "went back on" last Tuesday. Septimus W. Sears plead guilty when arraigned. He was accompanied into court by Bishop John Sharp's legal adviser ad-viser Parley L. Williams. The defendant, defend-ant, in answer to Judge Zane's question, directly responded that it was his intention inten-tion to obey the laws "as interpreted by the court," in the future and to advise others not to break it. He was simply fined $300 ; he would sacrifice principle and family itself to escape. Provo En' quirer. |
