Show Brisacher vs. Gillespie. The case of H. Brisacher vs. J. K. Gillespie, Gil-lespie, in which last year judgment by default was rendered for the plaintiff through the non-appearance of defendant or his attorney, was finally disposed of this morning. The case was reinstated immediately after the decision last year, upon the fact being explained that Mr. Gillespie's attorney had forgotten the date set for trial, and a jury trial was granted this morning. A good deal of evidence was taken in reference to the county . script sold by Gillespie to the plaintiff, and the case went to the jury just before the morning adjournment, with instructions to haye a sealed verdict handed in. This afternoon the Court announced judgment for the defendant, Mr. Gillespie, the jury having so reported. This exonerates Mr. Gillespie from the alleged responsibility of selling. bogus or valueless script to Mr. Brisacher, which was really the charge upon which the suit was brought. |
