Show PROF. KROUSE'S ELEGANT BATON. The "Iolantne" Company Enjoy Their Social and Make Their Leader Happy. Most- of the ladies and gentlemen of the "Iolanthe"company,and a few invited friends, were present in Calder's Music Palace last evening. The affair had been in contemplation some time, and the arrangements ar-rangements had been such as to insure a most enjoyable time, which indeed the gathering proved to be. After two hours of dancing, Mr. James Jennings, the active ac-tive stage manager of the "Iolanthe" performance, called the assembly to order or-der and read the following presentation to Prof. Krouse, which was received with warm applause : ; Salt Lake Cm, Utah, Jan. 18, 1886. Professor Harry S. Krouse, Musical Director of the Iolanthe Company : Deab Sib: Realizing that to your efforts, patient and enduring as they have been, is due largely the success which has attended the late performances of the Salt Lake Opera Company in "Iolanthe," we, the undersigned, in behalf of the members of the troupe, take pleasure in presenting to you the accompanying baton, as a small , token of our appreciation of the same, knowing know-ing you will accept it in the same kindly manner in which it is offered. Hoping to have the pleasure of seeing the baton in use at many future performances in this city, we are Yours very truly, Members Iolanthe Opera Co. Mr. Krouse on taking the handsome gift, which was elegantly mounted in gold and contained the name of the company and the initials of the recipient, expressed in a few words his appreciation of the company's regards, and assured them that the token would be brought into good service: W . This was followed by several of the choicest selections from the opera with orchestra accompaniment, prominent among which was Mrs. Leviberg's solo, "Oh, Foolish Fay," which was rendered in splendid style" and received deserved recognition. Later in the evening refreshments were served, after which dancing was resumed and kept up until the "wee sma' oors." |
