Show The Great "Cigar Lockout. New Yobk, January 18. The cigar makers anticipate a long ana stubborn fight to fol low upon the lockout next Wednesday, and both unions are vigorously at work preparing prepar-ing for the st niggle. About 3,000 non-union men will be forced into idleness by the lookout look-out and 2,000 union men. About 800 union men and 203 non-union men, exclusive of tenement house cigar makers, are now on a strike. Including the latter, there are over 3,000 men at present idle. The union cigar makers in the shops outside of the control of the manufactnrer3''association are prepared to meet the heavy assessments which will be made upon them for strike funds in case the lockout is continued for a long period. |
