Show D. B. Eaton Appointed on the Civil . Service Commission. Washington. November 5. The President this afternoon appointed Dorman B. Eaton a member of the Civil Service Commission, in place of Thoman, whose resignation was accepted to take effect November 1st. The appointment is but a temporary one, however, how-ever, as it is proposed to appoint a permanent perman-ent successor to Judge Thoman in a short time. Eaton consented to serve on tbe Commission for a few weeks in order to assist the newly-appointed Commissioners in familiarizing themselves witn their duties, and also to close up certain unfinished matters mat-ters in which he is greatly interested. It is not known who will succeed Eaton, beyond the fact that the new appointee will be a Bepublican in full sympathy with Civil Service Ser-vice reform. The President this afternoon appointed E. L. Carson, of Texas, Indian Agent at Ouray, Utah. - |
