The following is a summary of the results of the elections in the East and South Tuesday, made up of the last returns received from the several States: New York elects Hill (Democrat) Governor by about 11,000 plurality. ' The State Legislature Legis-lature is Bepublican on joint ballot by a majority of 36 in a total vote of 160. In New Jersey the Bepublicans have five majority in the Senate and four in the Assembly, As-sembly, making a majority of nine on joint ballot. In Connecticut the Bepublicans have 12 majority on joint ballot. Republican loss of 71. In Virginia Lee (Dem.) is elected Governor Gov-ernor by about '25,000 majority. As far as reported the Legislature is heavily Democratic, Demo-cratic, that party having 62 out of 100 members mem-bers of the House and 23 out of 40 in the Senate. The counties to be heard from will probably increase their majorities. In Massachusetts Bobinson (Bep.) is elected Governor by a plurality of about 22,0CD. The World olaims that the Democrats Demo-crats gain fifteen members in the House and seven in the Senate. In Maryland the Democratic State ticket is elected by about 30,000.
