Clift, handed to the court this morning a verdict for the plaintiff in the sum of $3,200. There had been conflicting conflict-ing opinions entertained by those who watched the progress of the case and were familiar with its details, and the i verdict, therefore, whatever it might have i been, would certainly have disappointed ! and surprised some. I It appears that shortly after the acci-! acci-! dent from which, it is claimed, the girl f Rose Griffitts received serious injuries, her family offered to amicably compromise com-promise the matter on payment of $500. Mr. Clift was opposed to paying anything more than he had already done in the employment of a physician, nurse, etc., and the case was brought before the court as a result. He feels that the case was not shown up in its true light, and is determined to appeal it in order that the exact merits of the case may be established. estab-lished. The court granted a thirty days' stay for the filing of a statement, and in the meantime an appeal will be taken to the Supreme Court. |
