Show j That High Council. Another party has turned up who was present at that memorable High Council in Nauvoo, when the revelation on plural marriage was ' first presented. - He is Thomas Grover, of Farmington, and in a recent letter he describes the proceedings as follows : - ' The High Council of Nauvoo was called" together by the prophet Joseph Smith, to know whether they would accept the revelation revela-tion on celestial marriage or not." This was putting it somewhat in the shape of an open question, and if the I gentleman's statements be true, left-an admirable opportunity tor the members of that council to sit down once and forever for-ever on the proposition. -A good solid opposition on the part of that body might have caused the prophet to reconsider his revelation, which he seems to have submitted for criticism before coming out with bis . "Thus Saith the Lord.". |
