Show Vetting- Heady for a Big- Strike. New Yobk, January 4. The car drivers of this city are organized and armed with a stern determination to demand what they conceive to be their rights. The movement embraces every line. They demand less labor for the same pay. For some time they have been quietly, but effectively at work among themselves preparing for the ' battle they are sure must ensue, The passage by the Board of Aldermen recently of a resolution resolu-tion which compels every car driver to be a resident of the city and State, four months before being entitled to receive employment as such, and to take out a license costing $1, had more significance than appeared at first blush. It was prompted by the Knights of Labor and was prepared to meet such an emergency as the strike. |
