Show REMOVAL OF THE POSTOFFICE. A Rumor That It Is to be Transferred Trans-ferred to the Opera Ilouse Block. Something of a sensational rumor was heard whispered on the street this morning, morn-ing, that the postoffice would probably be removed to the Walker Opera House building, as soon as such a change could be conveniently effected. It is said that j at the time Mr. Sharp Walker consented to endorse Mr. Browe's bonds it was either stipulated as a condition, or suggestively sug-gestively mentioned, that such transfer should be made, and it is further reported that Mr. Browe gave the assurance that he would petition the Postmaster-General to that end. Those who expressed an opinion on the subject to-day were unreserved unre-served in stating that the change had been in contemolation for a Ion a while, and that a good deal of quiet, effective work had been gotten got-ten "in for its consummation. Parties were heard to refer to the assault made upon the Wasatch building by the Tribune Tri-bune this morning as the opening fire, and that other influences would be brought to bear in the direction of the transfer. Mr. Sharp Walker is out of town at present, and therefore nothing could be learned from that source. Of course it is a matter on which none of the interested parties would care to express any comments, com-ments, because of the immature condition condi-tion of the project, but we give the report re-port for what it is worth, believing that there is very probablv something more than rumor in it. |
