Show An Able Democratic Newspaper. The Kansas City (Mo.) Times may be correctly classed as one of the ablest, brightest and most newsy of Western Democratic newspapers, and its popularity popular-ity has brought with it such success that it has just entered a "new home," described de-scribed as being one of the finest newspaper news-paper offices in the country. All this is not to be wondered at, however, when the fact is mentioned that j Senator Frank - Cocknell is the owner of the Times, a gentleman whose ability as an editor is supplemented by a splendid record as one of Missouri's favorite Senators, and who, it appears, is now a candidate for renomination. Seven years ago Mr. Cockrell ran for Governor of Missouri, and was defeated bv half a vote, but elected to the Senate" of the United States the year afterward. His straight Democratic record in that august oody entitles him to the confidence of the Mifisonrians, and at this distance it looks as though any trivial opposition which he is meeting with will only be sufficient to make the Senatorial campaign interesting. interest-ing. - |
