Show Body found in canyon is identified By GARY RrBLODGETT s FARMINGTON The body of a man found last week frozen to death in Ward Canyon east of Bountiful has been identified as that of a walkaway from Belle vue, Wash. A spokesperson for the Davis County Sheriffs Department Depart-ment said the man is 29-year-old Brian David Pruner who Washington police said is known to have a long history of mental illness and was often found after wandering away into isolated areas by himself. The identification was made through the aid of fingerprints finger-prints after Pruner was reported as an escapee from the Washington State Mental Hospital in Bellevue since Nov. 3. Officials there said he had been hospitalized in the institution since 1981. : Det. Glenn Parker of the Davis County SherifFs Department De-partment said the man had apparently died of accidental hypothermia after spending one or two nights in the mountains. moun-tains. He was found by a Kaysville hunter and his daughter. "The victim was wearing extra pairs of pants, socks, shirts and sweaters, but definitely was not prepared for spending a long period of time outside or for overnight camping," said Det. Parker. He noted that the missing man did not have food, water , or any identification on his body or nearby. He was found lying on the side of the mountain road. An autopsy disclosed dis-closed that death could be attributed to hypothermia and there was no sign of foul play. |
