Show Another Natural Gas Well Struck A gas well was discovered this wel morn ing by Mr Joseph Duckworth foreman of the Denver Rio Grande blacksmith shops at his residence 450 South First West street Messrs Brooks and Wallace Wal-lace have been employed by Mr Duck II I worth for several clays driving down a twoinch pipe in his front yard within a few feet of the house The well had reached the depth of 95 feet last night and this morning while the workmen were engaged in washing the sand out of the large pipe with a smaller one the gas began blowing out of the small pipe I While the framework used in boring the well was still up one of the men touched a math to the end of the pipe and as I quick as flash a flame shot up several feet a in height and would I soon have consumed con-sumed the framework i the men had not I hastily removed it to safe distance from i the burin eras The fame was finnllv i i put out with a blanket and the well still wel sti i continues to throw a stream of blue mud and gas Mr Duckworth says that if the gas continues he will have a reservoir built to hold it and will give up the hui I striking water for the present a natural I I fuel supply being of more value I |
