Show THE Herald this morning says there is talk of four tickets being put into the field at the coining August election namely the Peoples Republican Liberal I and Young Democratic and that the I Liberal ticket will be supported by those who are more antiMormon than any thing else and will receive more votes than any other party save the Peoples which may be true and may not But so elated is the Herald with this idea that it grows hilarious and witty and kind of stews in the juice of its own jocundity and with mirth overflowing declares that to make matters really in teresting the straight out Democrats HUOUlll come out with a ticket and the contest would be just too jolly for any thing if the Methodists Presbyterians Baptists and Congregationalists were each as distinct organizations to enter the field This is a very good arrangement as far as it goes but it I omits a strong and leading party here wliosc champion the i herald isthe Independents We ask leave to amend and add this name to the I above list and nominate as its standard bearer tho herald editor with lIon John I T Caine as alternate |
