Show A Kacy Libel Suit NEW YonK April LThe American News Company has been victorious in the libel suit brought against it by Gustavus Burgraff The libel consisted in selling a newspaper containing an account of Bur graffs domestic troubles He showed that the publication injured his shoe business and lost him his place as teacher in a Sunday school The defence was that the publication was true Counsel for the defendant was going on to show that it was true by reading the papers in Mrs BurgrafPs divorce suit when he stopped saying that he disliked these disclosures of domestic infelicity and suggested that the plaintiff consent that the ease be dismissed without costs Plaintiffs counsel consented Judge OGorman said that there was no duty which the court found it more painful to perform than to assist at the uncovering of the secret miseries quarrels and unhappiness un-happiness of domestic life lIe hoped that this family as it had been intimated might be the case would now learn to grieve about the past forgive what could be forgiven forget what could hi forgotten forgot-ten and remember thatthpre was a time when on a very solemn and to them avery a-very happy occasion the husband and wife took hands and pledged to love and guard one another for better and for worse |
