Show Sunday Law NEW YOKE April lBThe second game between the Brooklyn and Metropolitan clubs of the American Association which was to have been played at RidgewoodL L today was prevented by thc authorities in their enforcement of the Sunday law LONG ISLAND CITY April 18 Sheriff Mitchell of Queens county stationed deputy dep-uty sheriffs at every park and ground where base ball is usually played Sunday early this morning with instructions to prevent the opening of the gates and playing ball and also posted notices at the entrances forbidding for-bidding games Nearly 1000 persons gathered gath-ered at Ridgewood expecting to see a game between the Brooklyns and Metropolitans Great excitement prevailed all day and loud expressions of disappointment were heard on all sides Several thousand persons also assembled in the neighborhood of the parks at Maspeth Sheriff Mitchell says action will be taken every Sunday during the season |
