Show THE OLYMPIC EXHIBITION The Successful Effort of Our Amateur Ama-teur and Professional Athletes The citizens of Salt Lake paid the Olympic club of this city a high compliment compli-ment of appreciation last evening in a large attendance at their second exhibition exhi-bition at the Walker Opera House The fact is now established that the Olympic entertainments are firstclass in every particular without an objectionable I objection-able feature to offend even the ladies I who expressed as much interest in last nights performance as did the gentlemen and boys themselves The stage was conveniently arranged and provided with all the required gymnastic apparatus for the occasion The entire class were dressed in the best regular athletic suits and presented a fine appearance ap-pearance while undergoing the various evolutions and difficult drills of the order McMillan and Lange created considerable merriment in the parts of end clowns I The jumping somersaults flipflaps rings trapeze bars an many other class exercises were strongly applauded by the audience Olsens Band furnished music up to the time of the rising of the curtain accompaniments to after which guitar the drills were supplied by Messrs McDonald Mc-Donald Wetzel and Midgeley of the Club Homer J Stone presided ably as I master of ceremonies and in introducing I Manager D W Reckhart at the head of athletes the able instructor his class of thirty I hi h compliment as a structor was paid a high ana thorough teacher perfect gentleman worthy member of the Olympics who will shortly give him a grand benefit for his gratuitous labors with the Club highly surprised and equally pleased au dience McDonald and Garritys professional profes-sional clubswinging was cheered Musters Mus-ters Brooksbank and Penrose gave a fine example of the art of selfdefense with eightounce gloves which pleased all alike Messrs Reckhart Edwards Duncan Dun-can and Brastow showed themselves experts ex-perts on the parallel bars Edwards and Duncan performed excellently on the horizontal bar Ed Smith and Gus Brown of California brought down the house in a threeround setto with soft gloves Sherman and Ellerhecks double tumbling act was the work of old performers per-formers rather than amateurs Mc Millan and Lange the giants gave a good exhibition of their science and power as GrrecoRoinan and cutchascatchcan I wrestlers Dune McDonald the middleweight champion pugilist of Montana and the northwest gave a fine three round soft glove display with Frank Hayes the lightweight champion of Colorado Wyoming Wy-oming and Utah Reckhart performed some vfonderful feats of heavy dumb bell lifting while lying OH hTsJiJr The audience disjlCrs vell pleased and with many well wishes for the meritorious club in the future |
