Show I A Circular Collcctors to Collectors I j Department WASRINOT0N September 3The Treasury has issued the following circa Iii Iir Ii r Iit i t 4 m lar to collectors and others On and after January 1st next the practice heretofore existing under the Departments instructions of October 11th 1878 of permitting parties I who present themselves with invoices and bills of lading indorsed to them by parties named therein or in blank to make entry in their own names as owners and also of permitting entry by parties who appear to have been the real purchasers abroad but to whom the merchandise wasnot consignee by bill of lading will be discontinued and entries will only be received from parties ir whose name the merchandise is consignee by bill of lading or who appear to be the rightful holders of the bills of lading drawn to their order Articles 297 and 398 of the regulations will be considered as modified accordingly Entries by executors and administrators ad-ministrators of deceased persons or assignees as-signees of insolvents as provided in Section 2843 Revised Statutes willnot be considered as affected by this circular Signed j C S FAIRCIIILD Acting Secretary |
