Show Went Down and Struck Salt The artesian well at Fort Keogh Montana Mon-tana is now down into the parth 560 feet Mr 11 T Chapman the president of the American Welt Works of Aurora Ills is now here looking after the work It will be remembered proposals were invited in-vited by the War Department for putting down an artesian well at Fort Keogh 800 feet The American Well Works were the successful bidders and at bidder once commenced com-menced upon their contract Mr Chapman Chap-man states that a good flow of water has already been struck at several points in the well The first water was struck at a depth of 227 feet the second supply at 370 feet and the last flow at 475 feet The water now flows in quite large quantities The character of the water seems to be different from that struck in this vicinity and upon analysis shows nothing but salt although it is not perceptable to the taste According to the analysis one gal lon contains a teaspoon evenful of salt I YellouStone Journal j |
