Show The Mammoth Orchestra Concert In another column will be found the announcement of a concert by Mr Careless Care-less mammoth combination to take place at the Salt Lake Theatre Wednesday evening March 25th In addition to a welltrained orchestra of thirtyfive pieces Mr Careless presents as solo artists the best talent of our city The programme has been carefully selected Five selections will be rendered by the orchestra including the charming overtures over-tures of William Tell and Un Ballo In Maschera as also Reissigers Fil semmihle Miss Edna Rassell and Mr Gorlinski will each give a solo Mr Krouse will give Mendelssohns piano concerto op 25 with orchestral accompaniment ac-companiment and Mr Weihe will present one of Mendelssohns violin con certosalso with orchestra accompaniment We are under the impression that this is the first time these great concertos have been rendered in Salt Lake Citv with or chestral accompaniment A Moschiles duet for two pianos will be given by Messrs Radcliffe and Carungton and a cello solo by Mr Van Praag We trust this concert will be well I patronized by the Salt Lake public as it I aims to present thoroughly good music in Ian I-an artistic manner The general public of Salt Lake is as yet but little acquainted with the works of the great masters and the attempts that have heretofore been made to domesticate them here have not always met with the response they deserved If musical understanding understand-ing is growing among us it is certainly due onlyto the selfdenying efforts of our local artists in promoting concert after concert with little or no remuneration and with no other object in view than to teach the people what true music is and to lift them to their level Let the people but meet such efforts half way and they will be repaid by some of the purest pleasures this world can afford |
