DrlnkwaterEatchel Wedding MIIoZIp Among Sandy Society A Grand Reception In the wheel of time and fortune Friday day was one long to be remembered by the employees of the Germania Works at Murray More than all others there was one man Mr T S Austin superintendent super-intendent of the Germania workswho as the tide of life flows on wjhl feel that Friday April 29th 1887 is endeared to his heart as a precious and happy recollection recol-lection The occasion of this was a presentation pre-sentation of the Germania boys to their esteemed friend and whilom boss Mr Austin who has recently been removed from the position a place he has Judd with the best satisfaction to the company and men for nearly five years past Friday day evening as the day shift quit work they gathered in a body and went to the office to meet Mr Austin arriving at which Mr John Williams stepped up to Mr A and in a few very appropriate words presented that gentleman with a token of esteem from the employees consisting of a gold watch chain and locket On one side locket were engraved en-graved these words Germania boys to T S Austin Aprils Oth 1887 and on the other side was set a cluster of nine bright beautiful diamonds A picture of the works is yet to be put inside the locket Mr Austin though taken by surprise addressed the boys in a few well chosen remarks thanking them for their tangible tangi-ble token of esteem and their evident warmth of feeling toward him assuring them that whether fate or fortune frowned or smiled upon him or where ever chance or destiny cast his lot he would eVer hold dear to his heart the Germania boys and when the dim distant future caught upon the wings of time is the present for us all that chain and locket would be a fond reminder of the daystho boys at the Germania and like golden links of love bind his heart to theirs in friendship and frifnrnif their frendship fraternity Everybody then made bee t y a line for Haines Social Hall when the ladies and more gallantbehaved company of gentlemen gen-tlemen never congregated in Sandy The newlymarriedpair were presented with a very large number of costly and elegant presents Soon after the ball opened Mr H P Johnson in one of his characteristic speeches presented the happy and blushing couple with a pair of baby shoes to which were attached a card bearing the following bit of scripture The Lord only knows what a day will bring forth At midnight an elegant supper a spread at the residence of suppr lIr F Wells The success of this part of the affair was due to the efficient services of a committee consisting of Mrs Wells Mrs Clarke Mrs Cushing Miss Colby Mrs Tripp and Miss Orstaman After supper dancing was kept up till broad daylight in the morning many of the guests remaining and dancing hour after hour with unusual glee and energy The music was furnished by an excellent excel-lent quadrille band consisting of of the three McCloud brothers from Tooelfl and the Misses Halstead Marriot and Hemp of Sandy To more than any other one the successful carrying out of the arrangements of the party is due to the energy and skill a a manager of Mr Graves Mr and Mrs Drinkwater start out together to-gether under the most favorable circumstances circum-stances They are both true Loyal Leaguers Mr D a staunch Democrat while his accomplished wife is a dyedin thewool Republican TIE
