Show I I i ALTA ITEMS Iiilcrcslliisr News From the Vale of i SnowSlides I Special Correspondence THE DEMOCRAT Today we will have the first through train here from Salt Lake City the track I having been cleared yesterday afternoon after-noon The Emma hill is almost cleared of snow but there is considerable snow I on the south side of the canyon The mines will commence operation on a large scale as soon a the surface water is drained off Surface water in the mines here in spring has been a great drawback draw-back in the development of the same A good force of men are working in the New Emma fixing and preparing for the new boilers and pipes which will I presume pre-sume be hero this week Superintendent Superintend-ent George Cullins will make great im proyemeut in the working of the New Emma this year and will be in a position posi-tion to clear the water out of that mine The work in the Frederick mine has been pushing ahead all last winter and spring and your correspondent learned that a large force of miners will be employed em-ployed in that tunnel There has been a large quantity of good ore extracted from the Flagstaff mine this spring ready for shipment The force of miners in the same has been reduced likewise in the Vallejo on account of surface water surac The Eclipse is 0 K A good force of experienced miners have been employed in that mine The Eclipse is looking well with improved machinery Under the present management it will in the near future be numbered with our leading lead-ing mines We expect a boom here so say our business men and our mine owners and all are preparing for the same There are many hundreds of tons of ore ready for shipment Mixnn ALTA May 31 1887 6 |
