Show IRISH EVICTIONS i ii i A Sheriff Who is Protected by Six Hundred Policemen and Soldiers The WorI of Expulsion Carried On I j I Amid Barricades and Excitement 111 United Presbyterian Assembly Closes Its SessionA Fierce Glove Fight Assembly Dissolved PHILADELPHIA June 2At the evening session ses-sion of the United Presbyterian Assembly an attempt was made to reopen the instrumental instru-mental music question but a series of resolutions lutions offered by tho Rev Carson to this end were laid on tho table A resolution offered by Dr Carson That i is very desirable de-sirable that this difficulty should be if possible pos-sible speedily and satisfactorily settled was however adopted The committee on the Bible and relative to the memorial look ing to a union with the Reformed Presby terian Church reported recommending the appointment of a committee of six to confer i con-fer with a similar committee appointed by the Reformed Presbyterian synod now meet ing in Now Burgh and that 1 delegate bo appointed to proceed forthwith and convey fraternal greetings t the Reformed Presby terian Synod and to report the action of th Synod The report was adopted and a delegate appointed Delegates were also appointed to the Synod of the Reformed Church of America and the Synod associate of the next general assembly of the Presby terian Church in the United States to be held in Philadelphia in May 1888 After a few remarks by tho Moderator ho dissolved the assembly and called another to meet Jin Cedar Rapids Iowa on the Fourth Wednes day of May 18S8 |
