Show THE OTHER SIDE Mr Leonard Refutes the Charges Against Him Mr AA Leonard is too well known to be injured by the unjust accusation of the Heralds issue of this date The facts are these Mr Leonard while driv ing moderately through the uncrowded section of the city at which the accident of yesterday occurred allowed his little boy to take the reins Mr L although seeing the two ladies had no idea that they did not see him or that any at tempt would be made to cross in front of the horse until it was too late The horse after striking Miss Stephenson and knocking her down to the right shied so far to the left that he nearly upset the wagon and thereby luckily missed her with the wheel Mr L at this point caught the lines from the boy and stopped the horse and not until he had tried repeatedly to explain matters to the excited crowd did he drive homeward The friends of Mr Leonard will know that he is the last man who would be guilty of doing anybody an injury that could be avoided and was the first man to call at the house and inquire after the health of Miss Stephenson this morning Mr Leonard attributes the whole trou ble to the fact that the little boy was driving and censures himself very much for allowing him to drive while passing a crossing |
