Irrigation CEMETERY WATER 4 The Committee on Cemetery presented the following report SALT LAKE Crrr March 291887 The Honorable the City Council of Salt Te Lake City QEKTLEMEK The Committee on Cemetery who were instructed to investigate investi-gate the matter of supplying the City Cemetery Ceme-tery with water for sprinkling purposes having hav-ing procured a rough plan of the cemetery grounds which they submit with this and their investigations respectfully partially completed ivesti spectfully report as follows spctfuly hydrant marked A on the accompanying ac-companying plan at the end of Sixth street the pressure is thirtyeight poundssuf cient to foroe water eighty feet higher than the level of said hydrant to a point ten feet east of the west wall and fortyfive feet north from the old north wall of the cemetery ceme-tery from the hydrant a 3inoh main should be Jrm eastward in and through the cemetery ceme-tery grounds along a onerod street from un to C We recommend this route because be-cause the street is uniformly graded from west to east At the point marked c it is suggested to turn the main northward to lD thence eastward to uE but as work progresses it be found practicable to continue the may main in a due easterly course from the point marked C and thus avoid turning to the north which we believe to be objectionable and should be avoided if possible From the 8inch main running west and east 2inch lateral pipes should be run northward and 1inoh pipes southward to connect with street washers t be located at the edge of the onerod streets on every alternate block Fifty feet of rubber hose will then be sufficient to roach halfway wi between street washers from point to point waher pint Some of the plat and blocks are so undulating undu-lating and out up by gullies that placing street washers and lateral pipes can best be determined upon the ground as work proceeds pro-ceeds In other plats 0 and B for example it ia belioved but few if anv uppuoutiuui for water will bo made As near as we oat learn somewhere about 2 applications wi be made to use water this season We are not at this writing prepared to make recommendations as to the charge for water or for sprinkling lots but have the < matter before u and will report at an earl day Meantime we recommend that laying the 3inch main a above suggested be pro ceded with at once the same tune suggesting that a five of the delinquents mentioned in the City Assessor and Collectors list were also delinquent for county taxes action in these five particular cases be deferred pending an pnding adjudication from the court on the legality of the county asaosfment it being understood under-stood that Salt Lake County proposed to institute in-stitute legal proceedings against each of said delinquents with that end i view delnquents wth vew So far as your committee can lear the S legal proceedings referred t have never been institutodbnt relief has been extended to the county collector As there appears no probability of the city collector being able to collect the amounts charged against him on account of the above five delinquents hm recommend that the relief he
