Show LAST SIGHTS PERFORMANCE After flarks us IMuycd by Sue Homo Drnmutir Cluli The Salt Lake Theatre was crowded to the utmost last night the occasion being the first presentation of After Dark by the Home Dramatic Club The piece is a dramatized novel full of blond and thunder and with mnn atrnnnr i nJ b situations in fact it is a gallery play from beginning to end and it is probably from this standpoint that it should be criticised It has many technical faults which however would never be noticed by the gallery element The Club brings I out many of its strong points and lose many others The scenery and proper ties were all firstclass but several acci dents in the workings were very notice able N n In the Underground Railway DIUUI LUC JUUUM power unuupuuumg the rear car tried to reach his destination in advance of the engine and made his coach telescope all those ahead of it This however with other trifling discrepancies dis-crepancies can be icmediefl Miss Clawson in the leading lady part I was not seen to so good advantage as on I previous occasions she having let many opportunities for good acting pass by un I noticed In some places she did herself full justice and won a great deal of hearty applause Mr Wells as the London Jew was the star of the evening He had the dialect down to a fine point and was almost perfect in his acting The gentle wan has improved wonderfully since lie last ntirknawwl i H nnneared in o hl1l1n nl rrN acting last night n as a whole UJ l was by far 1 the best thing he has ever done and to say that means a great deal Spencer was good and probably the only 1 fault to be found with his acting is hat he fails to disguise his personality lie plays the drunkard very naturally and was quite funny in the first and second acts Mr Young made a fairly good villian considering the fact that in such a part he is entirely out of his element To i make any marked success he must stick to comedy Cummings was easy natural and forci ble and made a first rate hero His make up was good and he played the part with care All the other parts were fairly well done and as an entirety the play may be considered a success It will be presented for the last time this evening and those who missed seeing last evening will have a chance to judge it for themselves |
