Show THE SALVATION ARMY Simultaneously with the arrival of General Booth who is the head and front of the Salvation Army our dispatches dis-patches begin to tell of the arrest and imprisonment of members of the Army for disturbing the peace It is therefore likely that the coming of the commander has given a fresh impetus to the work of the Army and no man can tell where it will all end Under the broad scope of Article J of the Amendments of the Constitution Con-stitution the Salvation Army has a legal right to exist and hold their meetings but when their actions become a burden to the people and are classed as breaches of the peace the Army becomes a nuisance nui-sance and should be squelched The Various va-rious denominations of the protesting church all turn their backs upon the Army and for good reasons and it is but a question of a short time when the Army must consult the wishes of the people of this country or take the consequences A handful of excitable men and women shouting and dancing in the streets accompanied ac-companied by the beating of drums is hardly a proper method to convert sinners sin-ners and really is only provocative of laughter and ungodly remarks and tends to bring religion into disrepute with many who may feel an awakening of conscience and a desire for something more than the daily drudge of life affords It requires re-quires large sums of money to support this Army and if the people would withhold with-hold their dimes and dollars they would soon see a scattering of the Army and thus obtain a much needed rest |
