Show LOCAL JOTS The Bambergers are having a new iron front put in their store just below the postofiice and the question is Are they going to start a bank They are mum about the subject but something is sure to develop when the President signs that bill It was reported about town today that the workmen employed on the Mormon Temple had struck but the rumor was flatly denied at the gatehouse It will be a more frigid day than this when those men dare to object to anything that is given them The habitues of the Police Court are sop so-p rticular about the appearance of their pretty Judge that it seems impossible for them to do enough for him This afternoon after-noon Sheriff Burt and Policeman Pratt gave the Judges shoes a firstrate shine and transformed him into a perfect dude It is hinted that Burt is practicing up on this sort of thfng to keep his peck of bad boys in better order Henry F Clark the popular and fashionable fash-ionable tailor heretofore located on South Main street is fating up a new shop at No 29 R First South street Mr Clark has just imported a very fine assortment of cloth and is therefore prepared to turn out firstclass gentle mens suits in any style to suit the tastes and purses of his customers Call on Clark the tailor Last evening Professor Joseph Paul of I the Deseret University gave a lecture on education in the Tenth Ward meetinghouse meeting-house The subject was very appropriate appropri-ate but was listened to with that attention atten-tion that lets out at one ear what goes in at the other After the lecture the young Tenth ward hoodlums made the air hideous with their yelling and obsenity Give them another lecture Professor The controversy between the members of the firm of J W Farrell Co has at last been settled satisfactorily to both parties and J W Farrell will now buyout buy-out the interest of J F Farrell and keep the old stand J J F Farrell will go into business at some other place The trouble was over the question of the amount of T F Farrells interest in the business and this has been settled by Judge J Boreman The two Farrells though bearing the same name are not related as is generally supposed Sheriff Turner arrived here last evening even-ing bringing with him the bodies of L R Ketclium and John Q Green who were killed in the late shooting affray at Burbank Millard county Sexton Tay lor took charge of Ketchums body and will await orders from the deceased mans brother who is expected to arrive here this evening Greens remains was taken to the home of his relatives on Sixth South street and will be buried this afternoon af-ternoon The main features of the event as published in Tin DEMOCRAT were correct cor-rect and the particulars will come out on the examination Dell Hockman is in I Provo where be went of his own accord |
