Show CIVIL RIGHTS IX GEORGIA Colonel L N Haleof Henry county Georgia desired to ride in a car on the Central Railroad ofthat State which was set apart for colored passengers He purchased a ticket took a seat in the car and was preparing to en6y himself when the conductor stepped in and ejected him from the car He claimed hat his ticket entitled him to ride in any car on the train but the conductor entertained enter-tained a different view ot the matter The result of this difference of opinion is a suit against the railroad company for 12500 damages Colonel Hale contends that under the provisions of the Civil Rights bill he had a right to ride in the car set apart for colored passengers and that he isentitled to damages for being put out of the car The case is to be tried in the United States District Court Atlanta and it will determine what rightsiwhitemen have under the law |
