Show The American Shipper CHICAGO July 1Yesterdays session of the Lake Shore and Mississippi Valley of the American Shipping and Industrial League was very sparsely attended and the convention adjourned last night sine die after electing a vicepresident for each State in its tertr and adopting a scries of resolutions res-olutions to be presented to Congress by the four Chicago Congressmen and Senator Sabino of Minnesota The resolutions urge the passage of the Tonnage bill which provides that every vessel built and owned in the United States trading with foreign ports shall bo allowed 3 cents per ton for each 1000 miles sailed or steamed for a period of ten year A coast defense of the lake as well as the seaboard is demanded The other planks insist upon the improvement improve-ment of tho rivers and harbors of the lakes and the Mississippi Valley and the upbuild ing of the navy |
